My Dad was trying to get a hold of you on Saturday.
He said that you have a boat motor that is just like his and he knows where to get parts for it in SLC.
He was happy and wanted to share this info with you both. Those parts are really hard to find!
He has the boat up and running and we plan on taking little Robbie fishing for the first time this summer. My Mom is really excited to get out in the sunshine too. It will be good for all of us!
Well, I have to run for now. Hope this little note finds you well & happy!

Bean
I think I sent you both a Bean Gedcom and descent chart. I just found a mistake. Benjamin John Bean (born 1828)and his wife Susan Howell had only 6 children. I had read one child in one census as John, but in rereading the original I see that it actually said Julia. And the child Elsie Lizzie Bean was mistakenly written by the census taker as Alice. But her birth certificate and later censuses list her as Elsie. So their children are Julia Ann born 1845, Sarah Ann 1848, Frances Elizabeth 1850, Elsie Lizzie1855, Philip 1852, and Benjamin 1862. Sorry. But good I got that rechecked before we took their names to the temple. Donnette
Our ancestor, Joseph Knight: Friend to the Prophet
Joseph Knight Sr. (1772–1847)
From Saints Without Halos by Leonard J. Arrington and Davis Bitton. Chapter 1. Joseph Knight: Friend to the Prophet
Colesville
In 1811[5] thirty-nine-year-old Joseph Knight, his wife Polly, and their seven children moved to Colesville, New York, a small rural community on the east bank of the Susquehanna River. They cleared the land, planted an apple orchard, and erected a gristmill. By 1826 the Knights were operating four farms, the area's principal gristmill, and two mills for carding wool.
Josiah Stowel refers Joseph Smith to Knight
In connection with these enterprises, Joseph Knight often employed itinerant workers on a seasonal basis. In 1826 Knight's partner in the grain business, Josiah Stowel, recommended Joseph Smith, Jr., from Manchester in western New York. Stowel had engaged the twenty-year-old youth to dig for an old Spanish mine, rumored to be not far from Stowel's farm. But after a month of fruitless effort, Joseph had suggested that Stowel give up the hunt and Stowel, conceding the point but reluctant to put Joseph out of a job, referred the young man to Knight.
Knight family
Joseph proved to be a good worker. Knight later said that he was "the best hand he ever hired." Also working on the Knight farm were Joseph Knight's sons Newel and Joseph, Jr., ages twenty-five and eighteen, respectively. Joseph roomed with Newel and Joseph, and they became good friends. So close was [6] the relationship between Joseph Smith and the Knight family, that in November 1826 he told them of a sacred event he had experienced at his father's farm:
Moroni's visitations to Joseph
One night in 1823, he had prayed earnestly for forgiveness and sought to know the will of the Lord regarding himself. In the midst of his prayer, he was suddenly visited by a heavenly messenger who introduced himself as Moroni. He told Joseph that ancient records were hidden in a nearby hill. If Joseph remained faithful, the angel said, and if he succeeded in expunging every thought of monetary gain, he would be privileged to translate the records and bring them to the attention of the world. Moroni would visit Joseph once a year for four years. Joseph reported that three of these visits had already occurred, and the last visit would take place on the next September 22.
Joseph Smith's 1832 History
By the time the promised day arrived, Josiah Stowel and Joseph Knight had joined the Smith family in Manchester. Unfortunately, word of the hidden plates had leaked out, and some nearby residents hoped to find them first, or steal them later from Joseph Smith.
Joseph and Emma borrow wagon
Arising early on the morning of September 22, Joseph Knight noticed that his horse and wagon were gone. Joseph and Emma, his bride of nine months, had borrowed it to go to the hill because no one would recognize it. Soon the young couple returned. Joseph turned out the Horse.

Gold plates, Urim and Thummim
All Come into the house to Brackfist But no thing said about where they had Bin. After Brackfist Joseph Cald me in to the other Room and he sit his foot on the Bed and leaned his head on his hand and says, well I am Dissopented. Well, say I, I am sorrey. Well, says he, I am grateley Dissopnted. It is ten times Better then I expected. Then he went on to tell the length and width and thickness of the plates and, said he, they appear to be gold. But he seamed to think more of the glasses or the urim and thummim than he Did of the plates for says he, I can see anything. They are Marvelous.
Knight supports Joseph
During the ensuing months, Joseph Knight followed the translation of the Book of Mormon with keen interest. He offered moral support and provisions, furnishing a pair of [7] shoes, some money, writing paper, a barrel of mackerel, several barrels of grain, "taters," and a pound of tea.
Book of Mormon
In late March 1830, Joseph Knight drove Joseph to Manchester, New York, to pick up some copies of the Book of Mormon, which had just come off the press. On the way, the Prophet told him that a church must be organized, and a few days later Knight witnessed one of the most moving events of early Mormonism, the baptism of Martin Harris and Joseph Smith, Sr.
Baptism of Martin Harris and Joseph Smith Sr.
They found a place in a lot a small stream ran thro' and they ware Baptized in the Evening Because of persecution.... Joseph was fild with the spirrit to a grate Degree to see his Father and Mr Harris that he Bin with so much he Bust out with greaf and Joy and seamed as tho the world Could not hold him. He went out into the lot and appeared to want to git out of site of every Body and would sob and Crie and seamed to Be so full that he Could not live. Oliver and I went after him and Came to him and after a while he Came in But he was the most wrot upon that I ever saw any man. But his Joy seemed to be full. I think he saw the grate work he had Begun and was Desirus to Carry it out.
Joseph Knight thought about being baptized at the same time, "but I had not red the Book of Morman and I wanted to examin a little more I Being a Restorationar and had not examined so much as I wanted to. But I should a felt Better if I had a gone forward."
Church of Christ organized
Five days later, however, Joseph Knight and son Newel, along with eighteen of their Colesville neighbors, attended the meeting in Fayette where the Church of Christ was organized.
Knights, Emma baptized
Joseph visited the Knights again in June. This time they were ready to be baptized. A dam was constructed across a nearby stream on Saturday afternoon, but during the night hostile neighbors destroyed it. Oliver Cowdery preached the Sunday sermon and, according to the Prophet's history, "others of us bore testimony to the truth of the Book of Mormon, the doctrine of repentance, baptism for the remission of sins, and laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost." They repaired the dam and on Monday, Oliver Cowdery baptized thirteen persons, including Joseph's wife Emma, and Joseph and Polly Knight.
Mob at baptism
Joseph arrested for being a disorderly person [8]
Before the baptismal service concluded, a mob began to gather. The Saints withdrew to the Knight home, but the mob followed, surrounding the house. When they went to Newel Knight's house, the mob continued to harass them. "We were obliged to answer them various unprofitable questions," Joseph Smith reported, "and bear with insults and threatenings without number." As evening approached, other Saints began to arrive for a meeting during which the newly baptized members would be confirmed. Before the service could commence, however, a constable entered the house and arrested Joseph Smith "on the charge of being a disorderly person, of setting the country in an uproar by preaching the Book of Mormon, etc."
Knight hires Joseph's lawyers
Joseph acquitted
Joseph Knight employed two lawyers who successfully defended Joseph in the South Bainbridge court the following day. Within an hour of his release, however, Joseph was arrested again—this time on a warrant from neighboring Broome County. Again the two lawyers succeeded in clearing him, although it was after 2:00 A.M. when the defendant was finally released.
Knight home vandalized
Returning with the prophet, Joseph Knight found that neighbors had vandalized his property. Under cover of darkness, they had overturned wagons and piled wood on them, sunk other wagons in water, propped rails against the doors, and sunk chains in the millstream. Nevertheless, Joseph Knight, Jr. reported that when the prophet arrived, "the house was filled with the Holy Ghost which rested on us It was the greatest time I ever saw."
Colesville branch
Hyrum branch president
Colesville became the site of the first branch of the Church. Joseph Knight and his family attended the first Church conferences in June and October 1830. In the fall, Joseph Smith called his brother Hyrum to serve as the Colesville branch president. Hyrum lived for a time with Newel Knight, preaching and baptizing throughout the Susquehanna Valley.
Orson Pratt with Hyrum, Newell Knight
In December Orson Pratt, a newly ordained elder from Canaan, New York, was sent on his first mission to labor with Hyrum and Newel in the Colesville area.

Emer Harris baptized
Emer's descendants
Among those they baptized was Martin Harris's brother Emer. Emer Harris was [9] the great-grandfather of Franklin Harris, president of Brigham Young University (1921-1945) and of Utah State University (1945-1950); he was also the great-great-grandfather of Dallin Oaks, president of Brigham Young University (1971-1980).

Revelation to move to Kirtland
Colesville branch moves together
At the third conference of the Church, held in Fayette, New York, on 2 January 1831, Joseph Smith announced a revelation which declared that all members of the Church—now numbering nearly two hundred—should move to Kirtland, in northeastern Ohio. Joseph Knight and the other Colesville members decided to move as a group. They sold their homes, loaded their belongings into three baggage wagons, climbed aboard eleven ox-drawn passenger wagons, and set out for Ohio. At Ithaca, New York, they boarded canal boats and traveled through Cayuga Lake into the Erie Canal. Arriving at Buffalo on 1 May 1831, they were detained by a cold wind which blew ice into the harbor. The party was soon joined by eighty more Church members from Fayette and Waterloo, New York, traveling under the direction of Joseph Smith's mother, Lucy Mack Smith. Together they resumed their journey on an excursion boat to Fairport, Ohio, where they were met by the Prophet Joseph and other Church leaders.

Settle on Leman Copley land 16 miles northeast of Kirtlan
The Colesville group settled sixteen miles northeast of Kirtland on a thousand-acre farm donated by Leman Copley. Joseph Knight and the others consecrated their property, and the bishop assigned stewardships of land, livestock, implements, and other property according to family needs. Those who earned a surplus were asked to consecrate it to the bishop's storehouse to provide for those whose needs exceeded their own resources and to finance community enterprises.
Copley apostasy forces move
After two months, however, Copley apostatized and sued for the return of his land. The courts, favoring individual property rights, supported Copley's demand, and the Colesville Saints were forced to move.
Move to Missouri
In twenty-four wagons they traveled to western Missouri, near present-day Independence. As one in the party wrote, "People all along the road stared at us as they would at a circus or a caravan. … We most truly were a band of pilgrims started out to seek a better country."
Polly's failing health [p.10]
Polly Knight's health had been failing for some time, but according to Newel, "she would not consent to stop traveling; her only, or her greatest desire was to set her feet upon the land of Zion, and to have her body interred in that land."
Arrive Jackson county
Polly dies
The Colesville branch arrived in Jackson County on 25 July 1831 and began cooperatively to sow grain and build fences and houses. Polly died in just a few days, the first Latter-day Saint to die in Missouri. The Prophet preached her funeral sermon.
Live in chicken coop
Joseph seals Colesville branch
Joseph Knight and his son Newel slept in a hen coop while their homes were built, and Newel served as branch president. The Prophet was so impressed with the spirit of unity and service among the Colesville Saints that in 1832 he called them together "and sealed them up to eternal life."
Expulsion from Missouri
But the same qualities of industry, unity and cooperation which earned them the blessing of the Prophet, aroused the hostility of the "old settler" Missourians. On 1 December 1833 the Mormon settlers were expelled from their homes and farms. Through the winter the Colesville branch huddled together on the Missouri bottom lands of Clay County. Not until 1836, when they were forced farther north to Caldwell County, did the Colesville branch suspend its practice of the Law of Consecration and Order of Stewardships.
Nauvoo
Joseph and Newell die at Winter Quarters
Eventually the Knights moved with the rest of the Saints to Illinois, where they helped build Nauvoo, only to leave it a few years later in the great exodus to the Salt Lake Valley. Joseph and Newel Knight died in Winter Quarters during the winter of 1846–1847.
Jesse Knight, philanthropist
Newel's son Jesse, an important Utah entrepreneur, became one of the Church's most noted benefactors. He employed hundreds of Saints, and his contributions helped save Brigham Young University and the Church itself from financial ruin in the 1890s.
Joseph's tribute to Joseph Knight and his sons
Joseph Smith indicated the great respect he had for Joseph Knight and his family in an 1842 entry made in the Book of the Law of the Lord: "My aged and beloved brother, Joseph Knight, Sen., … was among the … first to administer to my necessities while I was laboring in the commencement of the bringing forth of the work of the Lord. … For fifteen years he [11] has been faithful and true, and even-handed and exemplary, and virtuous and kind. … He is a righteous man. … [As] a faithful man in Israel, …his name shall never be forgotten." As for his sons, Newel and Joseph, Jr., the Prophet added, "I record [their names] in the Book of the Law of the Lord with unspeakable delight, for they are my friends."

Compared with Gasoline......
Think a gallon of gas is expensive?
This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.
Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 .. . $10.32 per gallon
Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 ..........$9.52 per gallon
Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 .... $10.17 per gallon
Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 . $10.00 per gallon
Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 . $33.60 per gallon
Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 ... $178.13 per gallon
Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 .. $123.20 per gallon
Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ....... . $25.42 per gallon
Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 .....$84.48 per gallon
And this is the REAL KICKER...
Evian water 9 oz $1.49......... .$21.19 per gallon! That's $21.19 for WATER and the buyers don't even know the source. (Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)
Ever wonder why printers are so cheap?
Because the manufacturers have you hooked for the ink. Someone calculated
the cost of the ink at--you won't believe it but it is true--$5,200 a gallon (five thousand two hundred dollars).
So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, Pepto Bismol, Nyquil or Heaven forbid, Printer Ink!!!!!
Just a little humor to help ease the pain of your next trip to the pump...
And - If you don't pass this along to at least one person, your muffler will all off!!
Makes one stop and think, doesn't it?

Dear Myrna,
Just wanted to thank you for all the interesting and informative E-mails that you share with me. I printed this latest one and several others to share with friends who are fascinated with new insights that validate the Book of Mormon. We enjoy all you send.
Again thank you and I do hope to get to spend some time with you in the future. I talked to a neighbor the other day who was raised in Nephi and said that he knew you: Robert Parkin.

Ronald Nelson and the Perito Moreno Glacier
Perito Moreno Glacier
Amazing natural occurrence!!
It's quite the movie clip, just open up the attachment. It's of the Perito Moreno Glacier, in Argentina It depicts a grandstand, where tourists, and visitors can watch the Glacier advancing down the hill, and a glacier ice melt stream from above, flowing through the Glaciers downhill trudge, creating an Ice Tunnel, which eventually melts, and falls into the stream, in bunches and gobs. I have seen similar in spots up in the Columbia ice fields in Alberta, and have seen some on the internet from Iceland, Finland , Norway, the Alps, and also in Tibet - near Katman du. It's quite the video--obviously enthralled the tourists and visitors, and I hope you enjoy it too. This isn't "global warming" happening, it's the natural progression of a glacier, slowly advancing down the hill, due to it's overall weight, and the melting at the bottom there-from. It's pure physics called "calfing." Watch till end to get the full impact!
President Hinckley's 97th birthday, June 23
From Amy J.: I don't know who started this, but I think it's a great idea!!!! So, I sent it on!
As you all know, this June 23rd is Pres. Hinckley's 97th birthday. He has been such a wonderful example for all of us and I think that it is time we pay him back! One thing that he is known and remembered for is the construction of so many temples around the world. I was thinking that it would be a wonderful idea if every member possible attended the temple the
week of June 23 as a way of honoring and thanking Pres. Hinckley for all his years of service to the church.
This is NOT a church sponsored activity, but just a personal thing that I'd like to suggest, so, if you're interested in participating and helping this to happen, please forward this email to as many people that you know and let's see what a difference we can make! I figure that between all of us, we can cover a lot of the country and maybe the world.

I like my family around me!
I will really miss David, Bree, Erin and Donovin. I am having a difficult time with this. I guess I am going to have to get used to having half of my family out-of-state. Shawn, in Layton, and David, in St George, are far enough away. Now David and family will be out-of-state. I know how few times I made it to St. Louis when Melanie was there and how few times I make it to see any of the rest of you. Period! I don't even see Julie more than a couple of times a week and she lives in the same town. I think it is hard for me to let the grandkids know how much I love them when I live so far away. It is hard to let the grown-ups know how much I care. I don't think I do a good long-distance job of grandmothering or mothering. Perhaps you all have some ideas for me.

Little Scare
I guess I didn't explain well what happened as far as the recall for more views on the mammo. I went last week for my annual mammo. I didn't think anymore about it until Monday afternoon. We went to Provo to the dentist that morning because he wanted to check on my tooth. We also took the old TV up to Siovhan. When I got home, I had the news that I needed to have "more views" because there was an area of concern. I called Amy J because she knows about mammos. She told me not to worry because out of 125 mammos each month, 20 or so are called to come back in. (By the way, I didn't even tell her happy birthday.) However, that was telling a worry wart not to worry. I could not get back in until Friday because they have to have a radiologist present to review the films so you do not have to worry so long after having the second mammo done. However, the first shots were not satisfactory and I had to have another, more specific view taken. I have an area where there is something but it compresses and, therefore, cannot be cancer. I meet with my doctor on Thursday and he will explain what they found and why I don't have to worry. It just looked white to me. Don't feel unloved. I love you all. Do you want to hear about everything that happens to Dad and I? I think not, you would just be concerned. In fact, when Dad said he was giving me a blessing "for my problem" and that Jim was going to help, I said, "Which problem? My mammo results, my tooth, my hip, my elbow, my shoulder, my lower back?" He said, "I'll just bless you from your head to your toes." And he did. It is a good plan. Now we just need to do the same for him. Lots of love, M
So, Now You Know, Comments
After having so many children, you should realize that you can't save them from everything. How were you to know that she would fall and break her wrist. She isn't going to hold you responsible. You know you can't keep children in a bubble. If you are responsible for that, then I need to be held responsible for Siovhan breaking her ankle because I allowed her to take band and then I am responsible for Braden's broken arm, because he was playing tag and fell on the sidewalk. Things like this happen. Ask my other siblings how they feel when bad things happen to their children. Most of the time we with our children when these things happen, it doesn't make it anything but an accident. I know that you will show and increased love to Maddie and she will enjoy that. Be glad that it happened during the summer and not during the school year. (I was going to say "Fall," but knew that Shawn would say, 'Melanie, it did happen during the fall.' " I love you and know that you love the grandchildren. My siblings know that you love their children.Melanie
I am sorry that Maddie got hurt. I hope she is feeling somewhat better today. I am also sorry it happened while you were watching. Melanie is right, but whenever a child is hurt on our watch it is always easy to question yourself. Melanie is also right that I might have said it did happen during the fall, but I might have also said that it happened at the beginning of the winter (it wasn't the fall that hurt her, but the abrupt ending of the fall, that would make it the winter). Not to contribute to your feeling of worry Mom, but next time maybe you should just send her outside with a salt shaker and a mission--like your grandma did to you. I can still almost picture you chasing around after the slightly concerned robins. Love,Shawn
...or even better, give her the salt shaker, pull up some weeds near the pear tree, show her the worms and let nature take its course. Cousin Don used to feed kids cat-food while he was watching them and his mother was at the store. He didn't spoon it to them, he just pointed them to the "snacks" in the dish on the floor. I hope all is well with Maddie. It was all an accident. I think we all have at least one scar from an accident of some sort. Of the collection God gave me, I only have one digit of the ten on my hands that is scar-free. Four of those scars happened in the time I have been married. It's all part of growing up and unfortunately, I am still growing up. Love you. - Todd
Well, Now You Know.
How many years have I done a good job watching kids? Well, a fairly good job. I blew it all on Thursday. My history is shot. I had AnnMarie's three youngest (the two oldest were at youth conference with Brandon) and Eric's four. It had rained all day long. Finally, about 3 p.m. the sun came out. I decided it would be good for all of us to get out of the house. The older kids headed for the swings. I have a horrible fear of some little kid running in front of a swing and getting cut. That happened to Melanie when she was two while I was watching all the kids in the ward during a funeral. At any rate, I was playing with Rachel over by the pear tree. I pulled up some weeds and showed her the worms. Then Megan and Jason climbed up the apple tree. Everyone else was still on the swings. In just a second, Maddie had tried to climb the tree. She slipped and fell and caught herself with her right arm. She broke her wrist. We got her in the house and laid her on the floor by the fridge. That kept her arm flat. I filled a baggie with crushed ice and put it on her arm. Then I made a sling out of an old sheet that I tore up and put a big sweater of mine around her. Meanwhile, Dad called Amy and Eric. We got the kids in the car and then got Maddie in. We gave her a fleece blanket to rest her arm on during the ride and Dad took them to Payson to the emergency ward. He stopped by their house and Jason took charge of the other kids while Dad went on to the hospital. Thank goodness her arm did not swell so that she could have a cast right away.
Her arm sure looked awful but she was very brave and barely cried, only a bit when it first happened and then when I got her arm in the sling. After that, she didn't shed anymore tears. Of course, she broke her right arm. So much for the summer and swimming.
Love, Dumdum

Oh! Hi! O! May 2007
Hey everyone! The month of May was a busy as ever and June isn't slowing down either, even with school out now. Todd is out of town again, he was in Orlando earlier this week and is now in Colorado Springs. At least this time he gets to see family and is staying with Kirsten & Jared. We are so jealous, especially Emily. She wanted to go with her dad and play with her cousins there. Just an FYI, we will be baptizing Emily in Spanish Fork on June 30th at 6pm. We will also be doing a dinner afterwards. I'll be sending more information later, just wanted to give everyone a head up so you can mark your calendars. We would love you see you there! As you all now by now, Hailey got stitches a week and a half ago from falling off the couch and hitting our heavy solid wood coffee table. Eight stitches over her right eyebrow. She is healing up very nice and looks like it will be just a thin line of a scar and hardly noticeable as time goes on. The coffee table is now moved away from the couch and sitting under our big window in our family room so it won't happen again. I was too big of a mess and don't ever want to experience it again. Other than that, Hailey is getting so big, where has my baby gone? She thinks she's as big as her siblings and tries to keep up with them outside. Good thing they and their friends enjoy having her around (for now) :). Emily did real well in her piano recital and is now gearing up for her dance and gymnastics recital on the 16th of June. She is also staying very busy with her (machine pitch) softball games and is an awesome shortstop. She never lets any balls get past her. Emily also hit a double on her last game, clear out past the left fielder. Tyler also was great at their piano recital and still enjoys playing his pieces on the piano everyday at home. He's glad school is over, but is missing playing with his best friend everyday at recess. Tyler is now gearing up for scout camp which starts on the 12th of June and out here Cub camp goes for 4 days. Obviously they don't sleep over but go every morning and come home every evening worn out. Michael was wonderful at their piano recital and was the last student to play which is an honor because his teacher saves the best one for last. He surprised his teacher by asking for a four page piece called "Midnight Chase" and she gave it to him with the understanding that if it wasn't performance ready (by her standards, perfect and memorized) by recital he would have to save it for another recital. Well, lets just say that he had it performance ready a month before. I think she underestimated his ability, but now she knows and is moving him at lightning speed through his books. Michael also tested for 3 honors classes for upcoming freshman and passed all of them. So now he is in Honors English, Honors 19th Century World Studies, Honors Physical Science and two other advanced classes. He already has homework for the summer to be handed in on the first day of school for 2 classes. You'd think he would be mad about this, but he says he can't wait for school to start. He definitely did not inherit this from me! Michael is now 14 and will be ordained a teacher on Sunday the 10th. He's excited to start going with the older boys, but still will be passing the sacrament since our ward is very slim on young men. My excitement for the month of May was to go with Mike's 8th grade to Washington D.C. It was a great experience and Mike didn't mind his mom hanging around. We saw so much and walked 23 miles in 3 days, I know this because I took my pedometer. It was awesome to find Ben at Union Square (he has grown so much!) which is an amazing feat considering the size of the place and the sheer number of kids that were there with their schools. Well, I think I've taken up enough space and will close for now. We will see you all before the next newsletter is out and we can't wait! We will get to Utah on the 26th of June and will be there until the 22nd of July. Hopefully we can get together and do some fun things while there. See you all soon! Love, Todd, Amy, Michael, Tyler, Emily and Hailey
David's Move Comments From Family
Lake of the Ozarks is a wonderful place. Most people know the area around, Branson, Missouri. David will have a lot of great opportunities there. We loved visiting the beautiful area and going to some of the hot spots in Branson. Have fun David! We might have to all come and visit you.
Sorry. I forgot that Branson was so far away. We have been fishing and canoeing at Osage Beach. There are some tourist attractions there as well.
We used to go there a lot. We loved the area. Hope he will like it. It is so hot there right now.

Three cheers, it wasn't cancer!
From Myrna: I went back and got the second and third mammos this a.m. The tissue compressed and, so on the third view, they were able to tell that it was not cancer. I guess all of your prayers worked and Heavenly Father blessed me. Dad and Jim gave me a blessing also. At any rate, I have been smashed but I am going to live and not have a breast removed. That is good news to me. Love, M
From Amy G: This is the first I've anything about you having a cancer scare! I feel so bad that we didn't know, we could have been praying as well. It's good that you got good news and that it's not what everyone was worried about. I just
wish we would have heard before now. Had anyone told Todd, maybe over the phone? I would think he would have told me had he known.
We also had not heard anything about David and Bree moving to Missouri until
the email yesterday. Todd found out from Kirsten yesterday also. Is Barbara moving with them also? When are they actually moving? How are the kids doing with the news? The poor things have really been bounced around a lot.
Oh well, I guess this is what we get for living so far away. Is there
anything else going on that we should know about? Have a great weekend and
we are happy for your good news.
Love,
Amy

True Blue at BYU
Life has been go, go, go here in Cougartown. Between the Daily News, BYU Broadcasting, church, and a slight semblance of a social life, I've had little time to think. Or breathe for that matter. I'm reporting for the news two days a week, Tuesday and Thursday. There is a live feed that you can watch at 4:30 pm MST at http://newsnet.byu.edu . I've done seven stories so far and I still have two more to go. It would be a lot easier if I didn't have to wear heels...or dress pants. I've decided I'm going to create the "Beach Bum News Network" and do the news in my jeans, t-shirts and flip flops.
Work has been going well, my boss has been out of the country for multiple weeks leaving me to be a glorified answering machine. He also left me to edit together some BYU football games which has been pretty fun. Getting paid to watch sports--I'm alright with that.
At the end of May I got called as the Relief Society President for my ward so that's been keeping me fairly busy as I learn the ropes and try and get things organized. The ward fluctuates so much during the Spring and Summer terms that it's constant reorganization. But it's a nice "training" type period for the "real" stuff. It's gonna be a bumpy ride.
My mom visited me over the weekend for my birthday, which was rock awesome. I miss my family so much being away from them for so long. It's amazing how the older I get, the more I call home. And, amazingly, for things besides money. Haha. It was great to have mom here and I'm really thankful my dad (and siblings) let her come and spend time with me.
Well, other than that, it's just my constant resurgence of homework and trying to find boys that AREN'T stupid to date...it's a tough quest...but I think I'm up for it.
Oh. And I'd like to let you all know that my count for times meeting Coach (Bronco) Mendenhall this year is up to 5. Yes, friends, it's good to be famous. Hahaha.
For the Cougars of BYU...This is Siovhan...signing off.

Certain PBS series air on both 16 and 14, ROSEMARY & THYME. Delightful!

Rosemary & Thyme was a British television series that starred Felicity Kendal and Pam Ferris as gardening detectives Rosemary Boxer and Laura Thyme. The show began on ITV in 2003, and the third series ended in early 2006. On 12 May 2006, ITV announced that the third series was the last. The show is a mixture of gardening and detective investigation as the green-thumbed sleuths delve into the world of crime, solving the various mysteries that happen to follow them around the country — and in other
countries as well.

to keep you current on Dons' recovery
Hi, folks, to be sure you enjoyed your surpize visit from Melanie. Hope all is well. Just want to let you know I had a really long visit with Don by phone on Saturday past. He has been down for the last two weeks, with his leg, the last one operated on, elevated and taking a course of antibiotics for a very serious infection covering quite an area in his leg. Jon had brought him down to see the Doctor who did the surgery as they thought he had more blood clots. They did two ultrasounds on the leg, and found no clots, but the wide spread infection. Dr. Stone, in Logan, Nathans' father in law is Dons' internist, he has been over three nights after work to check to be sure what is going on. He told Don it was a blessing it was seen and treated as soon as it was or " he could have lost his leg or possibly his life." Don was having alot of pain, which he said is subsiding, also the leg isn't as swollen and red. Don sees Dr. Stone again this week- he says he wants Don to start walking, not as much as he had been doing, but to start exercising his leg so the muscles won't atrophy. Our bodies surely are a wonderment are they not? Hope all is well, and that your shoulder is doing better, Hon. Have a good week. Love Helen
Knee
Kimberly: I am okay. I have an infection in my knee (what you all suspected). I am on 2 antibiotics, one of which can turn my tears, among other things, red. It should be improved within 48 hrs, if not I will have to do IV antibiotics. The other knee has tendonitis.
Love, Kimberly
Myrna: Did the doctor say that it was septicemia or a septic joint? Julie had septicemia when she stepped on a barn nail. It is an infection in which large amounts of bacteria are present in the blood. In the "old" days it was commonly referred to as blood poisoning. Do just what the doctor said so that it doesn't get worse.
Love, M
Kimberly: This is what it sounds like to me, Cellulitis. I think I am doing okay, it's not bright red, however tonight it is itchy and it is red below the line I drew. Not a deep red, but a light red. Shawn says to look at again tomorrow. There is still some heat.
Myrna: I sent you a medical note about it. Keep taking care of it so that you get better fast. Should you be OK for the hike? Love, M

July 21st (Family party)
NanciHi Aunt Myrna, this is Nanci! How are you? I'm looking forward to seeing you in July!
I promised my mother I would send out evites to everyone and of course, time has gotten away from me!!!
I would like to ask a couple favors of you. I have the evite pretty much ready to go but I still need Uncle Don's email and Aunt Eva and Cousin Jim's email. Do you have thoses and if so, would you please forward them to me? Oh, and Linda and Michael's.
Second favor, I will get these out this week but would you please email your family and remind them we are doing this party at the same place on Saturday, July 21st! and to mark their calendars!!! We are going to make this one the best party ever! I'm looking into renting a jolly jump for the kids. I have to check with the church re liability issues.
I can't wait to see you and the family! I do hope all is well with you guys. Please give Uncle Tim my love and let him know I have him in my prayers regarding his upcoming surgery.
Have a wonderful week and thanks in advance for your assistance!
xoxo
Mom, I see Dad's cousin Tammie all of the time in Shopko here. She keeps wanting to have a get together of some sort. She has invited me to a few of her concerts but I have not been able to go. She has recently tried to set up a date when we could go to dinner, but I asked her to wait until we see how Dad's surgery goes. She really wants to connect with her extended family for many reasons. I wonder if it would be ok with Auntie if I invited her to the Trauntvein Christmas Party in July. I know she would be thrilled. Let me know what you think. AnnMarie
