Amazing world we live in!

Melanie: I have been corresponding with my Young Women Presidency Secretary via email since the birth of her baby three weeks ago. I asked her on Monday if she might be related by marriage to Robin Olsen Wirthlin. She responded with a "that would be a definite yes!" We then corresponded about how Robin was doing and how I knew the Olsens. My secretary, Cheri Wirthlin, then told me that Ann was out here to help with the children because Robin is due to have her baby today (in fact she might be having a c-section as well), and that the next time she talked with them, she would mention me.

This is the latest response:
(Connie Moessing is my Laurel Advisor, and is from California, via BYU.)

I just talked to Robin and she is thrilled to hear you're in our ward. She said she would love to see you and said she and her mom will have to drive out sometime to see you. Her mom is here for several months while Robin recovers after her baby, so I'm sure they'll find the time. Anyway, she was very excited to hear that you're out here.
I find more connections out here, of all places, with people who know Robin. Connie Moessing was her roomate back at BYU! Isn't that crazy?! :)

Myrna:Isn't life amazing?
Ann isn't quite the Ann you and I remember. She isn't far off, just a bit. She seems to talk a bit more slowly and takes more care in speaking than she once did. She had a brain tumor which required surgery and (I think) chemo. She said it had a large effect on her memory for a time, not her long-term memory but her short-term memory. However, she seems to be well-recovered from that. She is, she said, still not quite better. It was a funeral day and I did not press her. Then she called to talk to me while I was at Am's home and told me that she would be with Robin for a few months. I still did not ask her why she did not consider herself fully recovered.
She said she had lived with some of her kids while she recovered.
She and Ron did get a divorce. I guess Ron left her for another woman. One of the girls he knew at college. However, they didn't end up together. He did want Ann to forgive him and she said she did but she had her health to think about and did not take him back. She said he had really suffered since the accident and that had been a "Refiner's Fire" for him.

Bean descent chart‏

So many people have said they can't keep the people in the Saga of Sarah
Bean straight, so here is a descent chart which I hope will help.

Howard Shearring, great grandson of the Mayor, William Shearring, at the
bottom is the man in England who has been driving all this frenzy. I've
left a lot of children off the chart for clarity. These are the ones that
have interest to us.

William Bartington

I am going to look in the 1860 US census this week to see if I can see William Bartington as someone in the US. According to the ship's diaries several babies died on the way over on the ship but no adults. I think is is so interesting he joined the church. I wonder if Sarah Bean living with them had any influence on him. From what I can see from the old LDS records Sarah was at Smith Buildings about the time he joined the church. I have sent for a film of the records and am waiting for it to come to find out.

Dane's Football Schedule

He will miss the Sept. 3rd game.

Dane is doing great.  He’s not fond of the running and conditioning, but his plugging along and doing a good job.  He was on offense for 1 of the touch downs this past Saturday.  Now he can see all the practicing come together and he had fun playing the game.
One of his teammates was taken to hospital by ambulance for a cat scan (hit—rung his bell) with 3 minutes left in the game.  He’s fine and wanted to be at practice today, but was told to take it easy for a few days.

Dane has practice everyday but Sunday and Monday.

Pitt Family

The history that you have takes us back to one Peter Pitt in Shipley at 1776. It doesn't look like this line could be yours as the one to immigrate was Thomas Pitts who was born in 1824 in England and died in 1890 in Joseph, Utah. The family names don't have brothers on Peter Pitts, nor have we found his parents. Howard went to see if he could find them, but there had a been a fire in the records years ago, and he had to make a special appointment to see if he could get into the records. He hasn't been back to Shipley since.

I will see if we can dig up any of the other names as cousins, brothers, sisters, etc.
