Love you all.
thanks.

Todd wrote: There are a couple of gaps in employment. Be prepared to talk to those. Either self employed ventures while pursuing the right opportunity as a cutter/butcher, or something along those lines.

Be prepared to talk about the most recent separation. Ask AnnMarie for some good wording to use, I would think.

Focus on the volume of work and sales for each location. Doing inventory, you should have an idea of how much product moved through the shops in a week, or day. Add that to the ability/responsibility statements. Use this to show how you went from Storehouse ($70,000 of product weekly) to Albertsons ($120,000 of product weekly) to Sams ($500,000? of product weekly) so it shows how as your skills progressed so did the level of responsibility and the volume of work.

Also, additional tools used. The autowrappers. The fat-content cooker at Albertsons. The specialized training you have and licensing (forklift, hydrolics, cleaning, etc.) mention the certifications, or licensing and how long you have been certified to do those activities.

You first learned about equipment sanitation at stouffers which you do not need to include on your resume anymore, but you could mention that when college age, you had a student-style job where you cleaned production food equipment and remember a lot of that and have built on that for workspace sanitation over the years.

Just a few quick thoughts.

Myrna wrote: It has been years and years since Dad and I wrote these. At that time, the teachers of the classes thought all gaps should be filled with points (LDS mission from/until, training, schooling). I am not certain if that is still the case. In your case, you worked at the bronze factory. While that is not important to meat cutting, it does show that you were employed. I wonder if you should pad a bit more by stating that you are certified. (Oops. I just read Todd's reply and all of this is already there. Use his suggestions over mine because he hires people, as does Shawn.

One question: Why do you have bullets as well as commas. Doesn't the bullet do the job?

I will run it by Dad if he ever gets off the phone (Auntie H, scouts, Julie, High Priests, Temple Shift Coordinator).

Todd wrote: You should also list your ham radio license.

Leonard wrote: I think you should include your mission under your list of accomplishments. I always looked for that when I was hiring because it showed commitment. Love, Dad

    Our Week

Today we received a new bishopric. It was sad seeing our former bishopric sit on the stand for the last time. They certainly have been excellent leaders and have been such great men to work with the youth. They have reactivated several families and young men. Those young men are now going on missions. We have five missionaries out now but will have three more going soon. I will not be surprised if Bishop Roy Ward becomes the next stake president. Our new bishop is one of the dentists here in town. His brother and he own the Nephi Dental Clinic. His brother is first counselor in the First Ward.

We have Caydin and Donovin here with us this week. Erin is going to girl's camp with Megan and AnnMarie. Donovin tells us that he is now going to church in St. George. His best friend is LDS and invited him to go to Scouts with him. He also goes to church with his friend when he is home but is now a registered Scout. He is a good boy. He wants to be a missionary and tells us that he will be baptized when he is 18 and doesn't need his parent's permission. He likes going to church with us and has made friends here.

We are certainly happy that you are being blessed with the gift of tongues. Gramps and I are thankful that you are putting in the needed work in order for the Holy Ghoset to bless you so that you can learn so quickly. I always thought that Spanish was more difficult to learn than French. I would give Spanish a try if I had some time but I really don't need it except to know what Hispanic folks who are shopping in Walmart are actually saying to each other. Maybe they are saying: "I hope that woman does not buy the last yellow shirt because it is the one I wanted."

It is goodnight for this old Grammy. I love you and Gramps and I continue to pray for you and for your success.

    Just a Note

I am glad that you all like to talk to Dad on the phone. As you know, Dad also loves talking on the phone to you. However, when you are making plans for things, would you also drop me an email. He just doesn't hear very well and thinks he has it down but it is not right. Sorry but it would help.

I am not finding fault. I love your father and I am learning to adjust. We just had another of those moments where he thought that he had heard right and I did not know better. Perhaps I just need to assume the responsibility of checking the plans with each of you so that we get there on the day and at the time we should. I can do that. I will do that.

Sundance Tickets and David's Children on Monday Night

    AnnMarie wrote:
Mom, I just remembered that we all have tickets for 7 Brides for 7 Brothers at Sundance on Monday.  I thought you were going with Kirsten, too.  We don't have tickets for David's kids and I am guessing Caeden (?) would not want to sit still in the cold for that long.  I texted Kirsten that we would need to figure this out.  My family is on blankets in the back because all the bench seats are taken.  We need to make sure we talk about this with Kirsten and come up with a plan.

Myrna wrote: Would you try to get blanket seats for the three of them, please? Dad will take Caydin and the rest of us will sit with AnnMarie. I will pay for the tickets as soon as I see you or you could use our credit card. Do you have it? I think Kirsten has our number because of the airline tickets. Donovin and Erin love this sort of thing so they will be happy. Caydin will likely just go to sleep. He goes to sleep early in the evening and, as long as he has his blankie, he will be happy. Thanks, Mom

Later Myrna wrote: The reason that the website will not let us order tickets is that there are no tickets despite the fact that it indicates that there are. So we will need to come up with plan B. I did learn from my phone conversation that, at times, we can buy tickets at the box office by just showing up early and being there. They sometimes have tickets set aside for that purpose.

I could let Erin use my ticket and I could stay out with the other two. I am certain we could find something fun to do in Provo. Maybe we could go to a movie. What do you two think? Or we could just hope to get tickets at the box office. Perhaps that is really the best plan. Dad is always early anyway.

    Sorry from Myrna

I stayed up late (early?) and went to bed at 4 a.m. because I thought that I was done with the news and could then put it aside and enjoy my family. We have to publish the paper today. Then I was awakened at 7 a.m. when got more deadline stuff that Alan wanted ASAP. Because of that, I ended up not going to my doctor's appointment this a.m. RATS. I have a bladder infection that has been haunting me for the past two weeks. It is not the kind that does more than cause mild discomfort. Dad is angry with me over not taking care of myself and putting the news before my health and is not even speaking at this point. Oh, well. I am tired and think I need a nap. To bed at 4 and up at 7. It doesn't work. Now I am tired and cranky.

We had the special fast for Eric which we ended with a big and noisy party for Mel. It is so great having the Boltons here. I look forward to it every year. I hate giving up even a single second with them because those in-person seconds are so rare. I feel like I should be a little puppy-dog and just shadow their every move.

I have been feeling a tiny bit grouchy because I am tired but, I suppose, no one could tell because we all stayed up late visiting and no one went to bed. It is likely that we are all tired. We had a good time together. I have such smart and funny people in my family. Megan and Mikaela stayed awake until 2 a.m. because they were so happy to be with each other and we were all happy to have that happen. (I remember being young, really I do, and having fun early in the a.m. Wait, you say that I still do like to be up late/early? Well, I do like it but I don't do as well with it. I seem to wear out much easier than I did way back when.)

The only problem I had Monday was finding a place to do the weekly writing and begrudging the time away from the family. Writing the news from the bedroom late at night is not an option. Dad won't let me work in the bedroom at night because my tapping keeps him awake (REALLY?). For some reason, it keeps me awake also. You would think, however, that it mostly mental on his part because he can't hear anything else. Lights also bother him and, to my way of thinking, I would suppose that the light from the computer screen is really the culprit.

Braden and I ended up being together in the living room together and we ended up having a great visit and I gave up TRYING to work because that is not as much fun as visiting. I can write every week but I can't visit, in person, with my family every week.

Mel went running at 6 a.m. while I was sort of asleep. Tell me how she finds the energy for that?  I don't think that I had that kind of energy even when I was her age. I really don't remember that I did.

I am going to make another appointment with the Dr because I should not be as tired as I am. (I am just bushed. I am also moody.) I think the bladder infection is wearing me down. Sorry, Kirsten, for being so short with you on the phone. I do love you.

August addendum: Well, when I made it to the Dr. I found out that I am diabetic. He said it was no wonder I was tired and moody. It was also no wonder that I had a bladder infection. That dumb blood sugar. Now I am also tearful, worried and afraid.

Why my email address now has a Mr. I don't know.‏

Myrna: I was wondering if we are locked into the temple date that you gave Dad. That is the weekend that AnnMarie is going to girl's camp and is taking Erin. I was supposed to have her younger kids and David's boys during the camp. Her oldest kids are both working full time and Megan will be with her. We are also supposed to go to Sundance with Kirsten. We can have her sell our tickets so we don't know. Anyway, we will rearrange if we are locked in but if we are not it would be nice to change by a few days. Thanks.

Todd: I talked with dad on the phone. I need to call Amy after I get off this phone call I'm on with work.

    David was bigger at birth.

David was 10.13 lbs and 24-inches so the baby doesn't seem that big to me. But the couple certainly are TALL! David turned out to be the tallest of my children but he is not a giant.

Their family's still growing! World's tallest married couple welcome huge 9.2 lb son to follow in his father's size 15 footsteps

Wilco Van Kleef-Bolton is 7 ft and his partner Keisha is 6 ft 5 in
Newborn Jonah measured impressive 56 cm - only 2 per cent of neonatals are longer
Their other son, Lucas, 6, is already 4 ft 5.5 in, the height of an 11-year-old
Their daughter Eva, 4, is 3 ft 7 in - the typical height of a five-year-old
    By NICK ENOCH

Not all babies who are born big stay that way; often, their peers catch up with them over time. But Jonah Van Kleef-Bolton, born last week in England, is not likely to be surpassed by many of his future classmates.

When your parents are the world's tallest married couple, there's a strong chance you too are going to stand out from the crowd.

And Keisha and Wilco Van Kleef-Bolton’s latest arrival is no exception.

Weighing in at 9.2 lb, baby Jonah already seems to be following in his father’s giant size 15 footsteps.

It is Ute Stampede and David will be here

If any of you have time to come Friday or Saturday, please show up.

We did not get subs at the temple, which I regret, but Friday I almost need to be there. I should have looked for a sub for Saturday, but I did not. David and family will be here and I will be leaving them on their own. It doesn't seem right.

I am one of the assistant coordinators for the Friday shift. That means that I work with three other women and the coordinator to make certain that all the different places have the needed workers and are running smoothly. One of us is over each of the five aspects so, when one of us is not there, it puts a hardship on the others to try and cover for us.

At any rate, perhaps you would like to go to the parade on Friday, the mammoth parade, the carnival or just hang out. We will be here on Thursday for the horse parade and the rodeo.

I think that Julie and family will go to the parade on Friday with David family.

Happy Birthday, Now You Are 50

It used to be you were considered middle-aged when you were 40 years old. That is, after all, halfway to 80. But now middle age has been redefined as 60 to 75. Which is, of course, halfway to 120 to 150 (even though 150 is a goal most people really do not want to set).
For a lot of us, the biggest milepost is 50.
Now the world gives you clues that you have reached a milepost.
The first is that you carry a membership card in the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). You don't just turn 50 in the USA. You are officially notified that you are now old enough to be in the AARP. With draft notices no longer being sent and an alert postal service, the AARP card is the worst thing you can get in the mail.
All your mail changes. You’ll start getting brochures from the Garden of Memories Mausoleum and Cemetery offering 30 percent off if you act now.
When you're 50, you test drive a Cadillac.
You make grunting sounds putting on your socks.
    You buy relaxed-fit jeans.
You occasionally find that you have to put an extra hole in your belt and that your pants need to be let out half an inch every month (30 inches in five years).
You drop games where you and the ball move, and take up games that feature carts and soft drinks (like golf).
A hike is a walk to the end of the block.
At restaurants, you can't read the menu (your close vision is shot), can't hear the specials (your hearing is going) and can’t remember what they are anyway.
You mistakenly go to movies you've already seen, but it doesn't matter anymore. It's just as good, just as fresh and new, the second or third time. It's called short-term memory loss syndrome. Another name is CRS: Can't Remember Stuff.
It takes you three tries to call your own kids their correct names.
You begin to lie not only about your age, but about your children’s as well.
You see a withered old codger on the street, and you realize he was one year ahead of you in high school or (worse) that he was in the class behind you.
You may experience the onset of grumpiness. You start yelling: “Get off my lawn, you little creep!” And you tell the fast food clerk to just give you an old fashioned burger and not one of those things with the fancy names they have on the menu.
You have never watched the latest TV sitcom because it comes on after your bedtime.
You start watching the Food Network.
You fall asleep at parties and at church and, to be honest, everywhere you go.
You've reached an age where, on your birthday, you have to put some of the candles on the sides of the cake.
Now that you are 50, take yourself by the hand, and turn away from the habits of a lifetime, in favor of a new life. You can enjoy:
    The coolest-ever phone.
    The comfiest-ever new mattress.
Real maple syrup. (Get the raw honey, while you're at it.)
Shoes that play footsie with your feetsies.
    Fabulous teeth.
A catered Christmas. It IS OK. It IS still Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Passover, Halloween, Arbor Day, Grandparents Day, Boxing Day …
Time-share, downhill skis, the gourmet club, and football games at the Stadium.
    The 9 o'clock movie.
Do not pay for economy size anymore! It's not economical to buy a bag of chocolate chips that can make enough cookies to stock all the airline lounges in the Western Hemisphere until 2014. Here's to no more … more. Give it up.
    Let someone else do it.
    Let someone else clean it.
Let someone else make the payments.
    Let it go.
    Say good-bye to:
Super-sized fries (no one in the minivan to take the last handful, or take the edge off the guilt).
    The minivan. Time to downsize.
    A one-horse open sleigh.
    A Costco membership.
    The gym ultra-membership.
    The dog, the shoes.
Those seven, or was it nine, unfinished projects.
Your very own chickens (really, really not).
    Another cat.
    Another cap.
    Another hobby.
    A bigger flat screen.
    A bigger boat.
    A bigger mortgage.
More than 700 calories in one dessert before bed.
    Double cheese.
