Sorina's Baptism Date

Sorina’s baptism has been changed from the 19th.  We do not have the new date set for sure yet.  Possibly on Saturday, March 26th.  Getting a hold of the right people has been a challenge.  We will let you all know as soon as possible.

Cookbook

Amy G wrote: Thank you for the neat cookbook!  Lots of down home recipes that I'm familiar with, but didn't have recipes for.  Wonderful, thanks!

Love,
Amy

Myrna wrote: I am glad you like it. For some strange reason (probably because I am brain-dead) you didn't get your copy until now. At the end of the summer, I still had two. It then became a process of elimination to figure out who didn't get theirs. The Hiltons were in our temple presidency three years ago when he suddenly died of a massive heart attack. She had prepared the book for her family some years before that. She continues to work at the temple as an ordinance worker. She is great!

Please let me know when you get your St. Patrick's package. LHT mailed them for me and he got confused about the kind of postage he should get. I think he only sent one priority and sent the rest first class.

St. Patrick's Day Packages

Myrna Wrote: LHT took the St. Pat's packages to the post office for me. He got a bit confused about the priority vs first class email. I think he sent one priority and the rest first class. The packages are really not much good if you don't open them on Wednesday. Otherwise, the stickers will be a waste and so will one of the projects. The games can be played anytime you want to have family time. Let me know how it turns out. I guess the person who usually mails should be the person who always mails. Whatever. . .

Shawn, we decided to have you pick up your package at AnnMarie's, if you would please stop by there and get it. Please do it so you have it for Wednesday. Will you let us know, for future reference, which office is yours and we will stop it by instead. I told LHT that I thought we should just mail yours, as I have done in the past, but he thought this was OK. We will see. I think in the future, I will just go back to being the post office runner. That way, I can please myself. "If you want anything done right, do it yourself."

Eric, yours will be dropped at your house by us. Please look for it.Amy G wrote: We got our package today.  Thank you!  Hailey is having a ball with everything in it.  Thanks again and Happy St. Patrick's Day!

How fabulous!!!  Dud you get to go see it?  What a challenge!!!   I so admire music and theatre teachers who take on such a task.  I used to do that with Shakespeare and several of our plays were phenomenal...and I chalked it up to the students' talents and desire and the parents who helped sew period costumes...Loved it!!!  congratulations again!!!

Auntie Eva wrote: HI,  DOES MICHAEL HAVE A PART?   I AM SURPRISED THEY ARE DOING IT ON SUNDAY INSTEAD OF JUST WEEK DAYS.  THEIR SCHOOL IS LUCKY TO HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY FOR A DRAMA CLASS.  A PRETTY BRAVE TEACHER.  WILL YOU BE GOING TO SEE IT?  LOVE EVA

Myrna wrote: Michael does have a rather large part and a wonderful singing voice to go with it. It was this Sunday, so no, we didn't get to go.

Thought it has nothing to do with our not going back to Ohio to see the musical, my youngest sister's (Cydney) husband had a major stroke and is in the hospital in Provo. He is only 56.

Charlotte Kilfoyle wrote: Interesting, give me more information about your grandson, Michael?  Pretty significant to have a high school attempt such a play as this, the Phantom!

Myrna wrote: He is really gifted musically. He is a senior and has been accepted at BYU where he will go to school next year and then is planning a mission.

Eva wrote: Good for Michael.  He is doing well with his young life.    So sorry about Cydney's husband. When the scriptures said in the last days young men's
hearts shall fail them, i guess that also includes strokes.  There are  so many young men in the obituaries these days   I hope he can recover well.

Yet Another from Elder Braden Bolton

So another change has come and gone. Today I have been reflecting how fast time really does move; second by second, minute by minute until we have been in some strange country for almost 10 months and have completed 20 years of life. So much has happened in the 9 1/2 months I've been on my mission and i have so much more to do in the 14 months or so that I have left. I also thought that I have learned so much and have so much left to learn...and what else does the Lord have planned for me? What else am I meant to learn over the next 14 months?

News: My beloved Mission President called me to wish me a happy birthday on Monday. We chatted a little bit about what I did and if I had fun and then he told me that he had some news for me. He told me that he believed that it was time for me to go BACK to Puerto. The church needs some strong members who know about the leadership of the church and the doctrine to be out in Puerto Cabezas speaking to the people in their own language. So, yes, I have been to be an official Miskitu Missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Basically. I was speechless. To be honest, the only things I have wanted for a while are: 1. to go back to Puerto, and 2. to baptize families. This opportunity came to me as a shock but it really testified to me that no matter what the Lord is the one guiding my mission. I know that my Mission President is a man inspired of God and that he is truly visionary. After he spoke with me his wife, Hermana Arredondo, wanted to speak with me and we had a few good laughs and then she said that she'd see me at changes on the 16th.

The Lord knows our hearts, He knows our deepest desires. When I was given this opportunity I realized how the three Nephite apostles must have felt when the Lord asked what their desires were. He took my desire and presented it to me on a silver platter in the form of a gift. I am grateful that there is someone all knowing and all powerful that is helping us in our lives and that He can see what we need better than anyone else. Okay, I'm done with that spiel.

This week we baptized a family! I was sooooo excited. When we got to the chapel we had finished the wedding and everything, so we went over the font area and I asked the family who they wanted to baptize them (thinking that my son would baptize them). They both looked at eachother and just said, "We thought you were going to baptize us. Is that okay?" I was so surprised and just said alrighty and jumped in white. I had to baptize them sitting down...there was a problem with the drain and all of the water was leaving. Overall the whole wedding and baptism thing was super chaotic and stressful, but it all worked out. They also came to church on Sunday all on their own.Normally if we want people to get confirmed we have to work really hard to make sure they get to church the next day. They were my miracle family. I also only had to pray for the marriage, NO DIVORCE! Wohooo!

My companion and I have had a lot of fun this change and have worked hard too. I love being able to have companions that the Lord has put me with for a reason. I am so excited for the many opportunities that I am going to have in the future with my new companion. I have already been informed that I will be with him for a LONG time. I am sure that we will learn a lot together and that we will also have a lot of fun (and get a lot of work done, that's what I mean by fun). ;)

One thing that I seriously enjoy about my mission is not just the wonderful times that I have been able to have with my companions, but the wonderfully spiritual experiences I have been blessed with. As long as we are worth of Him, the Spirit will be with us, will teach us, guide us and be our constant friend and comfortor. However, He is very respective of our personal agency. If we do not desire His presence, He will not stay with us; if we desire to sin, He will leave. I am grateful that I have been able to learn how to tune into His voice, to listen to Him and be guided and directed by Him.

I know that this is the Kingdom of God on earth. I know that I am a beloved Son of God, one who has been prepared for this day and time. I know that the Book of Mormon is a marvellous book, one inspired by God and brought to us in these days by His grand design. I know that the Spirit is ready and willing to guide and direct us. We simply need to ask, are we ready for His guidance, do we want it? Seek Him, and you all shal gain many blessings.

Love you all and...well, we'll stay in contact. From León, paz!
