Mike Has Been Moved

I just talked to Cydney. None of this will be new news to most of you, since I did not find out that Mike had been moved to University of Utah Hospital until I went to visit last week and found out he was not there. I then called their daughter, Terri Fox. She told me what was going on. I then talked to David Anderson, their son, at the hospital. Cyd was not there at the time. Mike's was moved on Tuesday since his insurance will pay for the extended care required for therapy at the U of U, but not at Utah Valley. Cyd is staying with him, at the doctor's suggestion, since she needs to learn how to care for him properly and help him once they get back to Price. It is a good thing she has so much experience working in health care already because it will be easier for her to learn than for someone like me. The tentative release date will be in April prior to his birthday, on the 26th. They are, in fact, hoping that it might be as early as April 19. Time will tell. He is responding well to therapy. He is getting steadier on his feet and is able to speak a few more words and speak in some simple sentences. That frustrates him because he is wants to say more and cannot. However, it is a hopeful outlook after so much worry at first that all of the damage was so permanent that he could not ever get much of it back. It looks as though, with good therapy and Cyd, he will be himself again one day. Cyd is, as usual, a trooper. As Terri gently reminded everyone, as concerned as we are, this is not about Cyd but about Mike and his recovery. Cyd said that some remodeling of their manufactured home is soon taking place. They will take out a wall, easily done, and make the bathroom handicapped usable. I think there is a small closet located next that can be sacrificed.

In other Pitts family news, Ursula is getting married in a few days. Laurel and family are in the middle of the exciting plans. Laurel and family, and I am assuming also bridegroom's family, are traveling to Las Vegas for the ceremony. It is all quite exciting. They are not sending out formal invitations but congratulations are in order.
