In a July 25, 2005, letter read to all congregations: The First Presidency invited members to read the Book of Mormon by 2006. President Hinckley suggests that members could read or reread the book by the end of the year if they read just slightly more than one and one-half chapters per day. "We live in a day of rationalization; people want to discount spiritual experiences, and they deny themselves revelation. What happened to the seeking mind, the open mind, the inquiring mind—one seeking to know truth and knowledge? We tend to rely on our own rational powers.
