Last Night

I wish that boys would allow boys to be good without making them feel like they are weird because they are good. It annoys me. It was a good night. We have over thirty young women, and most of them were in attendance. I was a little upset that my Laurels weren't there, but then two of them showed up later. They had gotten stuck in traffic. It gets pretty bad on some nights. We were in traffic for two hours in December, just because of Christmas time shoppers. It normally take me about 45 minutes to get to the temple from my house.

The assistant to the President spoke to us last night. He talked of symbols in the temple and in our religion. It was lost on some of the younger ones, but the adults and some of the older ones got it.

Mikaela is home for the morning. She has to go in for a sonogram. She is having problems with lactose intolerance and they just want to make sure that the stomach aches she is having aren't related to anything else. She also has to see a gastroenterologist next Thursday. They will have her drink milk and then breathe into a mask. The mask will trap the gases from her breath, and from that they will be able to tell if she is lactose intolerant. That is a big step from having to save all her bms and take them to the lab within twenty minutes, to have them do testing. I like the new technology! I will keep you informed when I get the test results.

Talk with you later.

Hang in there!

Vance, Where Do You Find?

Ask Marilyn
By Marilyn vos Savant
Published: September 12,  2004

My son left home at the age of 18 and is now 22 years old. He  never calls. I am basically sitting here saying, “Why did I do all that: the  diapers, the PTA meetings?” Are there ever any rewards to parenting? I can’t  think of any.

—Linda Torres, San Francisco, Calif.

I believe that before anyone becomes a  parent, he or she should view the experience of rearing children—which  is often great fun—as the reward and not regard parenting as a means to an  end. Parents who simply suffer the hassle of family life in the hopes that  they will be rewarded with grateful lifetime companions or compassionate  care-givers in old age are courting a loss on two counts: 1) They don’t  realize the joy that can be found in parenting; and 2) the kids might not like  those roles.

From Melanie in Regards ot the Request to Please answer right away!‏

Howard's brother, Neil came in yesterday for a visit, and I had to take someone to hear the results of her biopsy. I haven't had time to check the email until this morning. Go ahead with the work. Some things you don't delay, especially when she wants the work done so desperately.

Have a great time. I wish I could have been there, but I will be there by proxy--Siovhan is going to put in an appearance. Make sure you curtsey and bow when the Princess arrives. I love you.

It is ready.

Last Friday evening, when we were at the temple, I was the greeter at the door. When Mona and Levon Grundvig came to the temple she said, “Good, I have a gift for you and now I won’t have to find you.” Then she handed me Grandma Edna’s file sheet approved and ready to do the work. The baptism, as you know, was done in her youth. The initiatory and endowment are ready to be done. She thought, since I have talked to her many times, that I may like to do the work.

If you would like to be there, at the temple and on the session, let me know. I don’t know how you feel about our doing the work on Saturday. Julie and AnnMarie have urged me to go ahead because they think Mom has waited long enough. They cannot be in attendance. Eric said he thought I should go ahead and then, as part of your party, we could celebrate the work being done.

The sealing to her parents is not going to be done until later. Her last brother died some months ago and Levon wants to wait until he gets that work done and then have the family sealed all at once.

He could apply for and get permission to do the family work because Grandma Edna’s mother was a Grundvig. Since he is living head of the family line and a blood relative he does not need my half-sister’s nor my father’s permission.

Kirsten called last night and when I told her she said that she would be happy either way. If we wanted to wait until summer so we could all be there, she would be OK with that or she would be OK with doing it now. Please let me know what you think in a fast hurry.

Hurry a reply!!!!

Kirsten is coming for the farewell party for Todd. It is a surprise for him. Kirsten was wondering if we could, by any stretch do it this Saturday, while she is here.  If you would like to be there, at the temple and on the session, let me know. I don’t know how you feel about that. Julie and AnnMarie have urged me to go ahead because they think Mom has waited long enough. They cannot be in attendance. Dad and I are scheduled to do the Adam and Eve part on Saturday at noon. I am thinking, that if Kirsten wants, I can do the initiatory on Friday and she could do Grandma Edna’s endowment.

Toren and his Teacher and Valentine's Day

Toren wanted to buy his teacher chocolate for Valentine's Day today.  I told him, no, we were giving her braclets (we had made the ones from Family Fun for the girls in his class). Not catching onto to fact that we had already made them. He says, "great, we can go to that diamond store in the mall and get her a braclet there." I told him, wow, he must really love his teacher. He then got all worried about the girl thing (he doesn't care for them, unless there are no boys to play with) and said no. I may have ruined him for his future wife. The kid was ready to head to the diamond store for a woman and I teased him!

Myrna writes:
OK, I'll tell his future wife that it is all your fault that he only got her a plain band. Bet he changes his mind by then. Thanks for sharing this cute story of the adorable kid with us.
Dad says to tell you that we have Toren's hat. We will mail it to you.

Have a great day!
Love, Myrna

You Got A Friend

From Else:

Hej Myrna og Trauntwein

Thanks for your letters. I never get around to doing much anymore. It seams like I am always busy, but never gets anything done. Right now I am sitting here by my computer, because there isn’t anywhere else to be in the house. Erling is taking the old lack off the floor downstairs so all the furniture is up here and there is dust everywhere. And then Daniel has moved in with all his furniture, well most of them. Just before Christmas he met some rocker like gays, that wanted him to work under them, and when he would not, the started fighting him. But they shouldn’t have, because when Daniel gets scared, he just hits back. They got so mad, so they came home to him the day before Christmas with a big iron thing used to tare down all houses. We call it a “Koben” and broke down the door and broke his light, his television and his bookcases. So he did not dare stay down there. The police said he had good reason to be scared. But it doesn’t make it more orderly. We have send Daniel and Line to stay with friend, while we are doing this. Erling is so tired, he is working so hard, that poor man. We are going to Ã…rhus during the week-end, so our floors can dry up while we are away. Then we are going to have all the furniture back next week. Saturday Janne will be over, and we are going to have a baby shower for Lea, who is going to have a baby in Martz. Janne and Mikkel are going to have another one in July. Mikkel has finally got a job. It is down by Soenderborg, so they will be moving down there. He shall begin 1st of Martz. It a real pretty area, with the fjord on one side and the woods on the other side. There is a little Branch in Sonderborg. I am still enjoying the temple. I try to go every Wednesday, but this week I going Thursday, for Erling wants me out of the house for as long as possible.

Remember we love you two

From Myrna: I would be terrified if I were Daniel!!!!!!

Tell all your children that we think of them often.

Our new next door neighbors (they just moved in at Christmas time when our old neighbors left) have Danish family in Arhus. The wife, next door, is Anna Marie. Her mother was converted to the church in Arhus and baptized there in 1968, I think she said. I will find out more and, perhaps, you might know them. She said her Grandfather and Grandmother still live in Arhus and she, Anna Marie, is going to visit this summer. The Grandfather has cancer.

Is Lea still with the fellow we met? Tell her congratulations on the family addition.

Tell Janne and Mikkel that we are happy for them.

We are having a new addition to our family this year, as well. AnnMarie is having a baby in August. She is quite sick this time. This will be her fifth baby and, more than likely, her last. She has to have Caesarian sections.

Our son, Todd and his family, are moving to Ohio for his work. It is a transfer and promotion. For that we are happy but it is a long way away and we will see them less. That means that Kirsten and family are in Colorado and Melanie and family are in Massachusetts. That gives us three out of state.

We miss you all of the time!

Love, Myrna and Leonard
