Please Help Me Out!
Myrna wrote: AGAIN!!!! This time I need Susan's address. I can't seem to find what I did with it. I swear that I have become completely mindless (without mind) because I can't find ANYTHING. I spend more time looking for things!
I hope you are all feeling better. I think I may never be the same. I still feel sort of sick (like unto morning sickness, if you had it). I am too old and since I have nothing left to have a baby with it really would be a miracle. But I still feel nauseated most of the time.

Howard's New Home
We are hopeful that we might be in our new house after December 16 which is supposed to be the day we close on the house. After that we will be busy moving into it and fixing up the condo. It will make for an interesting holiday.
Alyssa is in the Nutcracker on the 6th and 7th of December at Thanksgiving point. Tickets may be bought on line at ticketmaster.com. We are going Tuesday because that is when she is a party girl and a soldier.
The Christmas dance recital is December 12th at UVSC. And the school choir and band concert is December 14th at the school.
Brandon has still not been released and no calling has been extended. So we will travel back to this ward for a while. Brandon thinks it is not a good time to be released because he is in the middle of tithing settlement anyway.
Wally, hope you are feeling OK now.
We were thinking about you, Wally, and hoping that you are feeling better and, in fact, are now well again.
Leonard and Jim have been traveling back and forth between California and Nephi with loads of bees. Jim is not trusting any commercial drivers to help this year after what happened last year. He still hasn't recovered from the $150,000 business loss. So LHT (Tim, to you) and Jim are doing the driving themselves. It takes 10 trips back and forth.

Story from the Past
When Grandma Smith was a little girl, they used to look forward to an Orange, some peakedmchocolates and some hard tack in their Christmas sock each year. Great Great-Grandma Wilson (She was a Pritchett and was Great-Grandpa’s mother. Her first husband was murdered for his money, kept in a wall safe and she remarried.), ran a boarding house and was famed for her cooking. She would usually have the family at her home for Christmas dinner, which Great- Grandmother Mina would help fix. Mina worked for her mother-in-law in the boarding house. There were aunts, uncles and cousins at the dinners and there was always a lot of fun and teasing.
Grandma Smith had an Aunt Afton, about her age, who was G-G-Grandma Wilson’s youngest child. G-G-Grandma Wilson would always ask Grandma Smith what she wanted for Christmas and then she would get the same thing for both girls. It was, quite often, a doll but could be something else like a dress or shoes. Whatever, there were always two. They would

It was, quite often, a doll but could be something else like a dress or shoes. Whatever, there were always two. They would
be different colors, usually, but were always the same gift.
When Grandma Smith was teaching in Idaho those first couple of years, she would remember winters as fun times with fellow teachers. All were single. There were a couple of single guys who liked to come to enjoy desserts at the women’s dorm or apartment. One of the things they liked, when it snowed, was fresh snow which was scooped into a clean dishpan, then served covered with cream, vanilla and sugar.
Another favorite was Grandma’s divinity. I have included that recipe in a separate post. Think of how much I loved her when you make it! They also made panache and fudge. Those teaching girls could not have visits beyond a certain time of the night and they must always be all together. Remember, she graduated from Brigham Young Academy in 1910. Times were much different then.
She was a talented dancer as well as a basketball player and track team member. She lettered at BYA and received one of the first block Y’s given to a woman. When she was dancing ballet, she was selected to be one of two girls to dance with the famous Pavlova when she appeared in Provo. She and the other girl were both offered jobs as back-up dancers. The other girl accepted but G-Grandpa Pritchett would not let his daughter, Vivian, take the offer. The other girl danced for years and then taught ballet in New York City. Grandma Smith went on to graduate and became a teacher. She would wonder, from time to time, what would have happened had she been allowed to accept. She always ended up saying she wouldn’t change anything so it must have been for the best.

Dear Children
Christmas 2005,
Dear Children:
Dad and I want you each to have something to remember Grandpa by. We kept just enough out of his
estate to pay for a bathroom downstairs for me (selfish) and for each of you to have $300 to spend
for something to remember Grandpa Pitts.
We would like you to spend the money wisely. We would also like you to get something material to
remember Grandpa. That means, we would like you to get something that would last for awhile. It
might be a second-hand piano, a second-hand electronic keyboard, a grandmother’s clock, a curio
cabinet, a cedar chest, a television set. It could be almost anything that $300 would buy We would
like it to be something you, and your spouse, can appreciate for many years to come.
We know that it is not a lot of money, but it is something. It will not buy an expensive leather sofa,
for example. However, the rest of the money is invested and we are not taking anything out unless we
need it for medical care. That will spare any of you having to assist us with financial needs--the older
person’s worry. For the next few years, any profit we make from the investment will roll back into the
account.
We are not thinking that you will have a party or do anything fleeting that will not last long enough
for you to look at the item and remember Grandpa. It is our hope that you will remember him each
time you look at your purchase and reflect.
I hope that each of you know that you are precious to us. Dad and I count you as our greatest gifts.
We treasure you and the time we get to spend with you. Your spouses and children are also considered
as part of the wondrous gift. We are blessed to have you all. I remember those days when I feared I
would never have children. What an awful and sickening thought! I am so thankful Heavenly Father
blessed me with all of you.
Spend this with joy. Make memories. Help one another. Be loving. Be happy. Do all you can to be
productive and useful and, while you are doing so, remember our love goes with you.
Love, Mom and Dad

December News from Siovhan
Well, I figured I was probably old enough just to write one for myself. Especially because there's only so much my mom can make fun of my "harem." My mother's illusion of a harem has expanded this year. I still hang out with the two guys I got really close to last year, but at the same time I have a whole new apartment of guys that I hang out with. My roommates are so good this year, too. Heather, my roommate from last year, just moved back home. The other four roommates are such a blessing to me. They are all from Georgia and South Carolina, so it has bee quite the adventure teaching them how to drive in the snow. That duty has fallen upon me considering I got my license in a snow storm. They are wonderful, good girls and they try so hard to be considerate of each other and me. This semester has gone really well for me and I have done fairly well in school. I couldn't imagine being anywhere else for school, but at the same time I still get the occasional bout of homesickness. I am almost done with school and I can't wait to go home and see my family. I'm venturing getting my wisdom teeth out this break, as well as many other medical appointments so my mom jokes that it's more of a medical break than a vacation. That about sums up this month.
THE FABULOUS FOUR + GRANDMA
November another month in the making and gone already. I guess you could say that we all have our little idiosyncrasies...(spelling?) Its Monday morning. Erin's school had a marathon to raise money for the hurricane Katrina kids back south. We pledged $.05 per lap and she was so proud that she ran 5 laps and made her school SOOOOO much money. Ahh to be young again and easily pleased.
We went down to the BYU and U of U game with Jim and Julie. I was disappointed that the football field was so small they make it look so big on the TV. Needless to say this was my first football game and I was inthralled for the first half of the game and then went to the car and took a nap for the second half of the game. David said I missed the best part of the game. I knew I should have slept for the first half and watched the second half. In the end I told Jim that I knew I had painted my nails red for a reason.
Donovin is trying to potty train and boy has that been exciting. He
swears there is a shark in the toilet.
Thanksgiving came and went and was thank gosh, drama free and very relaxing. We are hoping to make it to Nephi for christmas time and Myrna's birthday, we will be going to Encenada Mexico for New Years and I think my mom will be taking the kids to Nephi while we are gone to spend with the family.
We have been mulling over the idea of moving back up north for awhile to be closer to the ones that we love, but because I would lose my job this is not something that is possible much to our dislike and disappointment. It has been a long time since I have found a job that I have been able to keep and to lose it would be a sad sad thing
especially since they have been so good to me in working with my health and past substance issues and not fired me on the spot.
Me ands David and my mother are so Thankful that we have the understanding and support of all the family, and I hope that I can make up for some of my past indiscretions by continuing in my program and meetings.
I could not have married into a better family and asked for a better support team. This is a time for being thankful and in this letter I hope to do that.
Thank You Leonard and Myrna for being supportive and not judging me.
Thank You Todd and Amy for helping when you could and taking David hunting.
Thank You Ann Marie and Brandon for giving me advice and help in the fields of your expertise.
Thank You Eric and Amy for understanding what being sick is.
Thank You Jim and Julie for the help in all manner of ways even when you were hurting yourselves and not expecting anything in return, we WILL someday be able to repay the favors.
Thank You Kirsten and Jared for being fun and loving and giving David someone to talk to in his hour of need.
Thank You Melanie for your understanding and to your husband which I have not had the pleasure of meeting yet.
THANK YOU to all the Trauntvein Clan Children for being fun and happy and playing with and loving my kids.
May god bless each and everyone of you in your special ways and I hope that we see you soon.
WE LOVE YOU ALL! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Newsletter From Layton and The Runnin' Utes
This was the info for the November newsletter you sent out. See, I sent it to you on the 27th before we left.
Okay, I feel bad for not getting this in sooner. I really do. We were so good for a few months and then, well, who knows, we were not so good.
October was good month. Dane finished up football and soccer ended for all three older kids. We thought we would have more time to get “things” done. And here it is November and we still have lots of “things” to get done.
Dane and Toren were off track for a couple of weeks in October. Sorina was happy to have the boys home to play with. The weather held and it did not seem like October.
We worked on redoing our parking strip hill. It turned into a bigger project than we planned. However, it looks great and we are excited to see how the 200+ bulbs and plants turn out in the spring. We also moved a wild nectarine tree that had grown on the north side of our house to another part of the yard. We hope that it survives the move. We figure the kids must have discarded a seed. It’s nice to see the life cycle of nature in action.
The storm drain system is almost finished in our neighborhood, so you can actually drive right to our house without taking the scenic route. The plus side of all the construction was all the construction equipment we got to see up close.
Halloween was the highlight of the month for Sorina. She loves Halloween and candy. She was Minnie Mouse for trick-or-treating at Mom’s work and she was a Dora Princess on Halloween. Both times complete with high heel Snow White Princess slippers. We were blessed that Halloween was so warm that she could dress so lightly. Dane was Harry Potter, Toren was Policeman and Brigitta was a Fairy. Brigitta and her Dad made the skirt for her costume together.
That, folks is October in a small nutshell.
This is your mother, begging!
Please, please, please send me your NOVEMBER newsletter
news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the same week, please, please, please send me your DECEMBER newsletter
news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to get it out at the first of the month. That way it can have
Christmas greetings before Christmas is over.
