Happy Valentine's Day to All!

I am not doing too well at keeping up. Sorry about that. You can all feel free to post at any time. It really would be appreciated. Thanks to Siovhan for finding my back post still lingering in the dank, dark woods of the still-to-be posted information. Apparently I am not too good at this blog posting as of yet. I didn't know that items could be kept in the un-published area. Now I do.

At any rate, I hope you all got your Valentines from Gramps and I. Hopefully, there is still something you can buy for a dollar. I was hoping you could all go out together and buy a treat. But then, I have great faith in the mail (ha, ha) and think that you will actually all get your cards on the same day. Was that wishful thinking? By the way, does anybody anywhere bang Valentines anymore? That was fun in the old days.

Family, I was wrong. Do not use petroleum jelly in the nose or around it.

A medical question and answer site in the Deseret News  gave the following information.

A. We warn readers not to put Vicks in the nose for fear of triggering chemical pneumonitis (lung inflammation). In fact, the column you are referring to closed with this caution: The manufacturer warns that Vicks VapoRub is "for external use only," and should not be put in nostrils. Regular use of petroleum jelly in the nose may increase the risk for lung irritation. This warning is more important than ever, since researchers at Wake Forest University recently reported a case in which an 18-month-old child developed severe breathing problems when her grandparents put Vicks under her nostrils for a cold (Chest, Jan. 2009).

Hon, thanks for your call. There is a booklet you will want to look at while you are at Distribution. It ia PREPARING TO ENTER THE HOLY TEMPLE- this is adapted from Elder Boyd K. Packers book- The Holy Temple. Has 37 pages, with a number of colored pictures inside various temples. There is no charge for it. You can get as many as you need. When you get to Distribution I would love to see you - you can come back to the clothing section or let one of the Associates at the cashier counter in the supply area know you would like to see me and they will let me know so I can come up to the supplies area. Pray all goes well with your eye appointment.

Ron called and wanted Shawn's telephone number. The problem is that we were not home. We work the evening shift at the temple on Friday and the afternoon shift on Saturday. We usually do not get home on Friday until after 10 p.m. Ron called about 5 p.m. and we did not get home from the temple until just now (10:16 p.m.). Finally she was healed, but he was convinced from knowing her personality that she would have remained faithful throughout her life even if it had not.

We love you, and consider this such a great blessing. I hope the effects are lasting.

He also helped Jim. I think it is pretty wonderful. I didn't even need my TENS unit today when I went to the temple. That is a first.

A chiropractor helped

I went to Dr. Gordon McClean in Provo today. He is a chiropractor. What great help he was to me. I have lived with pain for years and years and years. He made it go away in just a few minutes. I should have gone years and years and years ago. 

I have had two epidural steroid injections in the lumbar area to help with the low back pain and they only helped for a short time. Dr. McClean not only helped the back but took away the pain from my coccyx, my left hip but also between my shoulders.  He straightened my crooked shoulders also. Dad went with me and he also could not believe the good fortune. 

I go back on Friday a.m. before we go to the temple. I am so happy. So is Dad. This is the same Dr. who helped Jim with his back. The best news is that he took an x-ray (he can do that at his center) and found that I have no arthritis, I thought that I might because of the old injury. In addition, he can help correct the scoliosis that I have. All of the vertebrae have healed and so have the disks. My bones look good. 

So if I am rid of the pain forever, it will be the best day of my life. Even if I am not, it is better to go to him from time to time than to go get an epidural.

I took Randy into see Dr Ritchie Tuesday.  Usually we go into Payson, but I couldn't get his appointment in Payson so we had to go into Orem.  I told the receptionist that I liked the office in Payson better, which they are there only on Wed., and she said she did too and that it was closer for her.  I asked her where she lived and she said Nephi.  I asked her if she knew you and she said that Leonard was one of her teachers when she was in school, and that they lived just around the corner from you unti they moved into their new home.  I don't know her name, but she is a cute girl and very friendly. Dearest folks: am pleased you all had such a pleasant week-end and safe trip home. Pray you found all well at home. Just to let you know- I did go on a Draper Temple
tour this a.m. My ticket was for the 8:40a.m tour. As I am really not that familiar with the area nor what traffic would be like, I left home about 7: 30 a.m.( would rather be early than late.) I arrived at the Stake Center indicated on my ticket, after having some wander time with the scenic tour, at about 8 a.m. The ushers/hostesses are superb, many of them missionaries from the Utah North Temple Square mission.

The video they show in the chapel at the Stake Centers is really informative and short. Then you get on a very nice Lewis bus and go to the temple.Each bus has a big sign in the front window in the color you have on your ticket. As soon as you get off the bus at the temple you go into a canopy, heated area for to walk to the temple. Well as for the temple- WHAT WONDERMENT !! There are many, many oil paintings throughout the temple and in the cultural center of another Stake Center next to the temple where refreshments, good cookies and small indiviual bottles of water are on a very elegantly dressed table, with center pieces and other decorations, which to me, looked like they could be small celestial spheres. With very soft piano music of hymns being played by a very lovely sister. There was a harp also, but noone playing it this morn. PAY ESPECIALLYCLOSE ATTENTION TO THE CHANDELIERS- THE ONE IN THE CELESTIAL ROOM IS TRULY FROM ANOTHER WORLD, AS ARE A FEW OTHERS PRIOR TO GOING INTO THE CELESTIAL ROOM.

My neigbor went last Saturday evening- she said it took them 3 hours on the tour. Today, realizing it was early in the a.m we started at the Stake Center at 8:20 a.m and I was out of the temple by 10a.m - having spent considerable time in the very lovely decorated cultural center and just looking and feeling. They tell you in the chapel at Stake Center and again by the hostess on the bus- the tour is a silent one, to maintain the reverence for the setting. By the time I left there were more people coming on the buses- to be sure in the later afternoon and evening there will be many more people.

The walk way between the temple and the Stake Center for refreshments is also enclosed and heated. On the north side of the walk way after one comes out of the temple there is a small area where I asked if I could go look out over the valley, and the usher gave me permission. MY WORD WHAT A SCENE !!!

Along the route printed on your tickets for going to the parking lot designated on your ticket there are large signs on the right hand side of the rode indicated--OPEN HOUSE.
It is truly quite a wonderment- I could easily see the Jordan River Temple across the valley- tried to find the Angel Moroni on the Quirrah temple but was unable to locate it.

Whenever you come just ENJOY, ENJOY AND ENJOY.

Thanks for letting us know what we have to look forward to. Julie will be pleased to know all of this in advance so she can plan for the girls. She wants them to have a spiritual experience. She still remembers the great feeling she had at the Manti Temple open house and at the dedication. It was something wonderful to remember forever. This sounds like it will be a great experience. 

They have been refurbishing some of the historic chairs in one of the sealing rooms in the Manti Temple. Everything wears out and so the chairs were getting shabby-looking. They have put sego lilly needlepoint on the seats and backs. They are very beautiful so I can imagine what the ceilings must look like. 

Isn't it wonderful that we have such beautiful places dedicated to the work of the Lord? I am always impressed with the beauty of each individual temple. It is sort of like the beauty of each individual child. What one would you give up? NONE.

All that beauty and refreshments also? 

Thanks for all you do for us. I felt sad that we had to rush off. I did make the meeting and was only a few minutes late. I got there in time to take the photo of the commissioners accepting their piggy banks and signing the documents to make our county part of the Utah Saves campaign. So all was well.

Concerning my lack of manners.‏

Fact one--many of you do not all have the right e-mail addresses for each other. As for etiquette, I can barely spell it. I have no e-mail manners. I don't know anything about e-mail manners so I don't need to be reminded about them, I just need to be educated. I like you all to know what is being said, including the ones who didn't get the e-mail to start with. I was proud of Amy. I still am. That was a great thing she did--send the cards back and write a sweet note. I was remiss in not letting her know I had received them. While we are on the subject, as a matter of fact, I am not certain I have ANY manners about anything. Delete as you choose. You do not need to be picky about deleting anything from me at any time. I am quite certain that I end up in the trash or junk file on more e-mail sites more often that I would like to know. Whatever. Hopefully, before I die, I will do something right. Or not.
