Its been a very long time since Elvis had a for real birthday! His name still gets all the TV attention today. We all remember...but you are still our family King today and we are thankful you spent many a day learning, loving and living the dream the way you have. Wally and I send our best wishes that you and Myrna enjoy a fine day doing what makes your celebration the very best.. The best gift is just being near the love, the warmth and the blessings from all those earned days when life was 9 to 5 and or 24/7! Thanks for the fine Birthday wishes you send us. Its pretty special being remembered and a good word shares considerable joy, we are extending ours to you as well. We enjoyed your Christmas card and letter and adored the photo. Nice touch! We are happy you had much travel and family visits ending with Ohio, where Todd and family could share his announcement of Bishop this past year. May you both continue good health and have enough for good food and travel this year. The Utah Transplant team will sponsor a dinner program at Little America in SLK this mid March. Wally is out over five years. 
We may attend and if so will try to make a plan to enjoy lunch or a visit then with you folks. It would be nice to see you.

Lucille F. Pitts 1923 ~ 2010 Lucille Fuller Pitts passed on January 6, 2010 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born June 15, 1923 in Sunnyside, Utah to James and Ludeveka Turkelson Fuller. Married Kenneth V. Pitts in 1941; they were together for 46 years. They raised their children in Carbon County. Mom was actively involved in public services but her greatest achievements in life were her four children. Survived by children: Kenneth J. (Janet) Pitts, Cheryl (Robert) Fazzio, Vickie (Boyd) Davis and Janet (Von) Hanson; grandchildren: Troy, Dena, April and Greg; 13 great-grand-children; and sister, Maud Fuller. We love you, Mom, rest in peace. Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at Elysian Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.

Just a quick update.

Hi everyone,

Briley is doing well.  Derek and Heather went to see her yesterday and said she is growing.  They were able to hold her again outside of the incubator which they haven't done for 3 weeks.  She will be 4 weeks old on Saturday and weighs 2 lbs. 3 oz.  They are hoping to get her off the ventilator in another week or so.  Briley is truly being watched over and blessed.  We appreciate your prayers, fasting and thoughts in her behalf.

Where I Am

Thanks to the help of Kirsten and Jared, I was able to get there after all. At first, we thought only Leonard would be able to go because we thought we could only get one ticket on such short notice and it was important, since LHT has the priesthood, that he be able to stand in the circle with the stake president when he set Todd apart as Bishop. 

But I am here and was able to vote to sustain my son and view all of the other miracles. Thanks for all the tender mercies of Heavenly Father and the great goodness of my family, I was able to be here.

By the way, did you know about the study which found that birthdays are good for your health?  They discovered that the more birthdays you have, the longer you live. 

 

I hope I have a lot of birthdays.  However only if I am in good health.  I don't want to be a burden to my wife, or children.

The Herald Editor Who Hired Me Full-Time

Just a quick note to tell you all that we are still alive here in Mississippi. I have survived four semesters and have two more to go before the course work is done. Then the dreaded dissertation (think of it as a 400-page research paper!) Bob has been driving school bus since March, and that has been an adventure to say the least. Still, it gets him out of the house and pays a few bills, so we don't starve! We have found being poor college kids is easier at our age than it was when we were doing it in our 20s. Not sure why that is. 

Anyway, all our children are doing great! Bob's youngest son got married in November. My daughter, Tara, (no. 2) had a baby on Veteran's Day, Charis Sophia (pronounce that Care-us). Various health challenges have arisen this year (try making snacks for little ones allergic to eggs, milk and nuts!) but all are doing well for the moment. 

My oldest daughter, Jemma, and her husband, James, are still in Draper with their two boys, Ryan 5, Gage, 2 1/2. Jemma is still at Holiday Inn. James got a new job in Pleasant Grove doing computer stuff (it involves servers and stuff I don't want to understand). Tara and her husband, Rob, moved to West Jordan this summer, along with Madison, 13, and Charis was born there. Now four of the girls are in Utah. Melanie and Chris are still in Midvale with Asher, 3, and Amaya, 1 1/2. Chris is still the director of ITT Tech in Salt Lake and Mel runs her own little business making custom jewelry. Amanda is teaching middle school math full time and is working on a master's degree in education.  My youngest, Cassie, and her husband, Justin, are both attending Utah Valley University. Cassie has just a year left to get her accounting degree. Her youngest daughter, Kami, 3, has been on seizure medication for most of her short life, but they are weaning her off now and hope that is behind us. Cassie developed heart problems this year but seems to be able to control them with medication (the muscles don't seem to pump correctly).

We saw Bob's three sons in November when David got married to Tabytha. (Lovely wedding) His oldest son Matt is still running an auto repair shop and his wife Heidimarie is building quite a business teaching children and adults to ride horses (dressage). Matt's four children all seem to be growing up so fast (Derek in the military, Blake in college, Lauren a senior in high school, and Connor tearing up the soccer field). Bob's middle son, Rick, moved his family to Florida where they live a block from the beach. His wife, Kathleen, does HR work online from home. Their little boy Max is quite the character. We keep track of Bob's granddaughter Amber on Facebook. Our great grands, Madelyn and Patrick, are growing up so fast!

Well, that's about it from our house. For the first Christmas in about 34 years, I won't see any of my children on Christmas, so we are "adopting" various church members who also are without family this year. Our house will still be filled with Christmas cheer! Hope yours is the same.
