About CDs--Please Don't Nag

Myrna wrote: Dear Family,

I have now realized that there are duplicate photos in the batch of CDs I am sending each of you. I know that I have been cautioned before about not doing this. However, I will be hanged if I will do all of these over just to eliminate the duplicates. When you look at them and realize that I have wasted disk space, just remember that it was all at my expense: time and money. Therefore, either be patient and understanding or, at least, be quiet.

I know what I did. I had the photos in different files. A CD holds approximately 311 photos. Some were the files where I put un-doctored photos--originals. I keep them just for myself. The other files were where I put the ones I have lightened or darkened or whatever. The other day I had several computer problems with my DSL, keeping my printer up and running and connecting to e-mail. Allen helped me out. I now have a new Ethernet switch. During that process I became confused about what was what on my desktop. I know, I should name files so that I don’t. However, they were on my desktop in a certain order and then they weren’t. By the way, some of the files won’t save at all because “the originals are no longer available.” I thought I had this all figured out before I moved to CD. I didn’t. Oh, well. I call it live and learn.

Please don't nag.

Love, M

:)

Myrna wrote: Congratulations to you, Amy! Being RS president was a really fulfilling calling. It certainly is one where you feel the Spirit. I cried when I was sustained and I cried when I was released. Our love and support to you. Love, M

Happy Valentine's Day to All!

I am not doing too well at keeping up. Sorry about that. You can all feel free to post at any time. It really would be appreciated. Thanks to Siovhan for finding my back post still lingering in the dank, dark woods of the still-to-be posted information. Apparently I am not too good at this blog posting as of yet. I didn't know that items could be kept in the un-published area. Now I do.

At any rate, I hope you all got your Valentines from Gramps and I. Hopefully, there is still something you can buy for a dollar. I was hoping you could all go out together and buy a treat. But then, I have great faith in the mail (ha, ha) and think that you will actually all get your cards on the same day. Was that wishful thinking? By the way, does anybody anywhere bang Valentines anymore? That was fun in the old days.

We do love you all.

Family, I was wrong. Do not use petroleum jelly in the nose or around it.

A medical question and answer site in the Deseret News  gave the following information.

A. We warn readers not to put Vicks in the nose for fear of triggering chemical pneumonitis (lung inflammation). In fact, the column you are referring to closed with this caution: The manufacturer warns that Vicks VapoRub is "for external use only," and should not be put in nostrils. Regular use of petroleum jelly in the nose may increase the risk for lung irritation. This warning is more important than ever, since researchers at Wake Forest University recently reported a case in which an 18-month-old child developed severe breathing problems when her grandparents put Vicks under her nostrils for a cold (Chest, Jan. 2009).

Kimberly wrote: I've heard the putting it on the bottoms of your feet and then socks worked really well. Have not had an occasion to try it out.

Melanie wrote: I had heard the feet with socks thing. It is supposed to help dry, cracked feet.

Our pediatrician just recently told us not to use it anywhere except on the chest, lightly at that, and feet.

wonder if that causes breathing issues, never has before. hmmmmm.

Maybe that could explain l;oss of brain cells (decreased oxygen and
such)

We Will Teach Temple Prep

Myrna wrote: Our new calling is to teach the temple preparation class in our ward.
Leonard was wondering if you could pick up the following manual for him.
Thanks, M

36854000-01 Endowed from on High: Temple Preparation Seminar Teacher's Manual $1.25 USD

Helen wrote: Dearest Hon and Myrna--What a most appropriate calling for you to have in Temple Preparation.

Hon, thanks for your call. There is a booklet you will want to look at while you are at Distribution. It ia PREPARING TO ENTER THE HOLY TEMPLE- this is adapted from Elder Boyd K. Packers book- The Holy Temple. Has 37 pages, with a number of colored pictures inside various temples. There is no charge for it. You can get as many as you need. When you get to Distribution I would love to see you - you can come back to the clothing section or let one of the Associates at the cashier counter in the supply area know you would like to see me and they will let me know so I can come up to the supplies area. Pray all goes well with your eye appointment.

Once again, dear Sister, am so pleased you have gotten and hope continue to get such relief from your new doctor. Have a good Sabbath. Look forward to seeing you. Love Just me HT.

I need Ron's e-mail address?

Myrna wrote to Ann Olsen:

Ron called and wanted Shawn's telephone number. The problem is that we were not home. We work the evening shift at the temple on Friday and the afternoon shift on Saturday. We usually do not get home on Friday until after 10 p.m. Ron called about 5 p.m. and we did not get home from the temple until just now (10:16 p.m.). We did try to call back at the number he gave us but the service did not allow us to leave a message. Anyway, here is Shawn's phone number: 1-801-825-2867. Maybe you could pass it on for us.
I hope they can get in touch.
Thanks.

More About the Great Good News for Myrna!

Shawn wrote: That is such good news Mom. I did not realize you were still suffering so much. I know that last fall (Labor day) you seemed to be doing better than the previous fall (on our previous Labor Day camp). I am so glad to hear that you have some relief. It reminds me of Elder Wirthlin's last Conference address, where he mentioned that one of his daughters had received blessings but continued to suffer from a medical condition for years. Finally she was healed, but he was convinced from knowing her personality that she would have remained faithful throughout her life even if it had not.

We love you, and consider this such a great blessing. I hope the effects are lasting.

Myrna wrote: OK, I feel great. BUT I do not want to ride a "sling shot" ride across the Royal Gorge. I'll let Dad go and I will stay on the side with the little ones. Dr. McClean is a wonder but I haven't been cured of motion-sickness, just back pain. I don't want to bungee jump either. I will, however, now go riding the new 4-wheeler with Dad.

He also helped Jim. I think it is pretty wonderful. I didn't even need my TENS unit today when I went to the temple. That is a first.

A chiropractor helped

I went to Dr. Gordon McClean in Provo today. He is a chiropractor. What great help he was to me. I have lived with pain for years and years and years. He made it go away in just a few minutes. I should have gone years and years and years ago.

I have had two epidural steroid injections in the lumbar area to help with the low back pain and they only helped for a short time. Dr. McClean not only helped the back but took away the pain from my coccyx, my left hip but also between my shoulders.  He straightened my crooked shoulders also. Dad went with me and he also could not believe the good fortune.

I go back on Friday a.m. before we go to the temple. I am so happy. So is Dad. This is the same Dr. who helped Jim with his back. The best news is that he took an x-ray (he can do that at his center) and found that I have no arthritis, I thought that I might because of the old injury. In addition, he can help correct the scoliosis that I have. All of the vertebrae have healed and so have the disks. My bones look good.

So if I am rid of the pain forever, it will be the best day of my life. Even if I am not, it is better to go to him from time to time than to go get an epidural.

EllaDean Hunter wrote: Would you ge me his phone number.  That sounds like something I should try.  I do have scoliosis and arthritis in my back.  I have tenn wearing a tens unit on my back.  My daughter comes and puts in on each morning.   It is electroinds.  It helps some, but it doesn't take the pain completely away.  I have had the epideral injections which did nothing for me.

I took Randy into see Dr Ritchie Tuesday.  Usually we go into Payson, but I couldn't get his appointment in Payson so we had to go into Orem.  I told the receptionist that I liked the office in Payson better, which they are there only on Wed., and she said she did too and that it was closer for her.  I asked her where she lived and she said Nephi.  I asked her if she knew you and she said that Leonard was one of her teachers when she was in school, and that they lived just around the corner from you unti they moved into their new home.  I don't know her name, but she is a cute girl and very friendly.
